By opening its 12th U.S. gateway, Turkish Airlines achieves a key milestone in the Pacific Northwest. On Friday, May 27, 2022, the launch took place in Seattle, Washington. With its 300-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the international airline now operates four flights each week (on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Istanbul Airport (IST).
Following the inaugural flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), flight TK204, a ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring Turkish Airlines leadership, including the Chairᴍᴀɴ of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, was conducted on June 15 in the airport of the new gateway.
Turkish Airlines now flies to 340 destinations in 129 countries across five continents from its centrally located hub at the brand-new Istanbul Airport, which when finished will be the biggest airport in the world. Turkish Airlines is also well-positioned to connect to more than 60 destinations within a three-hour flight from Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines now has 17 gateway cities in North America, including Seattle. These include Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Nᴇᴡ Yᴏʀᴋ Chicago, Houston, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Mᴇxɪᴄᴏ City, and Cancun. Three additional gateways, Newark, Dallas, and Vancouver, will open in 2021.
