On October 11, 2019, a line near the stern of the ship snaps during the launch of Scot Explorer at the Royal Rodewes shipyard in Hoogezand, the Nᴇᴛʜᴇʀʟᴀɴᴅs. The concrete quay wall was struck by the hull many times after that. The quay wall and the paint were both clearly ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇd. The ship, which was constructed by Royal Bodewes in North Holland, was eventually prepared for launch after several months of development. She will be the second-largest ship in the Scotline fleet with a DWT of 4850 mt. She doesn’t exceed 90 meters, but because of her optimized design, she can transport 7,000 cbm of sawn Swedish timber.
She is a sister ship of the MV Scot Carrier, which was launched last year. Since then, she has undergone over 400 design changes, the most noticeable of which are the totally enᴄʟᴏsᴇd bridge wings. With her crew having an easy and enjoyable environment to work in, she should be even more effective than the Scot Carrier. The most recent addition to Scotline’s fleet of 9 owned ships and 5 ships under a long-term time charter is Scot Explorer. In order to provide our clients with the most dependable service possible, Scotline is constantly searching for ᴍᴇᴛʜods to improve the fleet.
In addition to being container-fitted and ice class 1B, the Scot Explorer will have a hold depth of 9 meters, which is crucial for our Baltic customers. The Scot Carrier, which was introduced in August 2018, underwent over 400 design revisions, the most notable of which is the entirely enᴄʟᴏsᴇd bridge wings. With her crew having an easy and enjoyable environment to work in, she should be even more effective than the Scot Carrier.
